© J. Oeder Assist Hooks Jig & Popper TIPS AND TRICKS FOR SPEED JIGGING Do-it-yourself rigs with assist hooks are simple. Hooks with a wide arc and short shank are suitable. The hooks can hardly be too large, but they can be too small. The hook opening should be larger than the width of the jigs. Otherwise, the hook gets stuck on jig and does not "catch". The picture below shows various models. Above from left: The Owner SJ41 has been proven itself as a standard hook worldwide. The two "Black Tuna" from Asari in the middle (10/0 and 8/0) are even stronger than the Owner. The Gamakatsu 510 (right) is also available fitted with a leader. Below from left: The VMC 7360 Dynamic Live Bait (here in 10/0 and 8/0) are inexpensive, but rust quickly. The third model is a VMC 7264 OB Jigging Assist in 7/0 with a better finish. The Gamakatsu LS-4123F (right in 8/0) that is used for tuna fishing with natural baits is also suitable for jigging.
